Set of 20 Hollow & Round Moulding Planes by DAVIS
A fine 19th century set of 20 hollow and round moulding planes by George DAVIS of Birmingham.
A same owner set comprising pairs of No.2, 4, 6, 8 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and the scarce No.20s.
Embossed mark 'G.DAVIS' to the toes with the relevant size on each heel.
All are marked with the same previous owner's stamp ('J.C.COOKE') however the pair of No.6 planes are by KIMBERLEY, another Birmingham plane maker from the same period, and we must assume that these are either a replacement pair or were originally supplied to complete the DAVIS set.
Good length blade irons on all with many of the original wedges still bearing their identification marks to pair them with the correct plane body and iron.
Some minor surface knocks and scratches.
15 old, treated and wax filled, worm exit holes.
95/16 inches overall length.
