Wooden Compo Mould
A reverse carved composition or compo mould.
Used in the production of ornate guilded picture frames.
This example is to create a corner section and depicts ivy leaves.
Scratch marked ‘W.T.F’, presumably the initials of the user/owner/manufacturer?
Typically made of boxwood or fruitwood, our example has built up a coating of linseed oil through use.
Approximately 75/8 inches by 55/8 inches and 13/16 inches thick.
