A good 1 1/4 inch or 31mm John Bull brand firmer chisel by HEARNSHAW BROTHERS of Sheffield.

Marked 'HEARNSHAW BROTHERS SHEFFIELD' with the John Bull trade mark to the top of the blade.

A few surface pitting and staining spots, please see images.

Fitted with a good Wilfin Patent beech wood handle with brass ferrule the metal ring.  This 'patent metal bond' was designed to prevent splitting with advertising stating that it 'makes the weakest part of all tools now the strongest'.

Faintly marked 'WILFIN PATENT' near the metal ring, please see close-up image.

The previous owner has bored a hanging hole in the handle for storage.
