An 18th century moulding plane by DARBEY of Birmingham, circa 1730 - 1785.

Clear embossed mark 'DARBEY' to the toe, on closer inspection this mark appears to be made up of two separate stamps with a clear line between the 'DAR' and 'BEY', please see close-up image.

Stamped '1' on the heel.

The profile is a narrow flat, possibly an altered hollow or round?

Fitted with a good length blade iron and original wedge, There are signs of an old part thickness split to the middle section of the wedge, please see close-up image.

Previous owner's initials 'WW' and 'T.C'.

10 inches overall length.
