18th Century FROGATT Complex Moulding Plane *SOLD*

A very good 18th century moulding plane by Benjamin FROGATT of Birmingham, circa 1760 - 1790.

Believed to be cove and astragal profile.

Clear embossed mark 'B:FROGATT' with stepped border to the toe.

The tool merchant's hand written '2/3' mark remains on the heel.

Previous owner's marks 'GW', 'J.NUXOM' and 'P.SCREATON'.

Good length blade iron with a few pitting and staining spots, please see images.

Lovely original wedge.

A few old, treated and wax filled, worm exit holes (2 to the sole, 1 to the stock plus a few to the tip of the wedge), please see images.
