A scarce 18th century 10 inch moulding plane by Rene AUBIN of Salop (Shrewsbury, Shropshire).

Embossed mark 'R AUBIN' to the toe, the majority of planes by AUBIN are also stamped with the 'SALOP' location however this one has the single name mark only, please see close-up images.

Fitted with a good length, probably original, blade iron and original wedge, there is a braised repair to the tang, some pitting and staining spots, please see images.

A few, treated and wax filled, worm exit holes.

Previous owner's initials 'I L'.

10 inches overall length.
