An 18th century flat form Grecian ovolo profile moulding plane by Samuel KING of Hull, circa 1770 - 1806.

Clear embossed mark 'S KING HULL' to the toe and stamped '6' on the heel.

Fitted with a good length blade iron and original wedge, a few pitting and staining spots, please see images.

Unusually the wear strip on this plane appears to be of lignum vitae rather than boxwood, rarely seen on planes made outside of Birmingham.  There are a few splits along the length of the lignum, please see close-up images.

Previous owner's stamps 'E.EDWARDS', 'W.PAILTHORP' and another overstamped.

91/2 inches overall length.
