19 inch GARLICK Lynx Brand Saw for GP PRESTON
An antique smaller skew back rip saw by GARLICK of Sheffield.
The clear blade etch reads 'GP PRESTON SHEFFIELD CAST STEEL WARRANTED' with the Lynx trade mark.
GARLICK are known to have made saws for a variety of ironmongers and tool merchants such as GP PRESTON circa 1890 to 1930.
Good beechwood handle with three brass split nut fixings including the Lynx trade mark medallion.
There is a small crack at the step in the lower part of the handle, please see close-up images.
Previous owner's stamps 'F.FROW' and 'G.HILL'.
The 19 inch blade is reasonably straight with all teeth (approx' 10tpi) present and well formed.
There are some minor shallow indentations just above the tooth line near the toe, probably the result of a previous visit to the saw doctor.
The blade has a smooth glossy surface with a few minor pitting and staining spots, please see images.
