Two scarce vintage MARPLES bevel edge chisels with rosewood handles.

Believed to be MARPLES M 777 Gold Chip chisels.

Sizes: 5/8 inch (16mm) and 1 1/2" (38mm).

Originally supplied in sets of 4, 5 or 6 with the option to purchase all sizes individually.  Sizes 1/8, 5/8 and 11/2 were never included in the sets.

The blade of this 5/8" chisel is marked 'SHEFFIELD ENGLAND' with the size in both metric and imperial, a similar mark would have been on the larger chisel however only a few letters are visible under a magnifying glass.

The rosewood handles are in very good condition and retain very faint gold MARPLES trade marks, please see close-up images.

107/8 (276mm) and 12 inches (305mm) overall length.
