American STANLEY No 78 Rebate Plane

An early 20th century American STANLEY No.78 rebate or rabbet plane.

Believed to be circa 1909 - 1925, a cutter adjustment lever was added in 1925.

Marked 'No.78 STANLEY' on the right side of the casting.

'B' casting marks to the fence and body, please see close-up images

Dismantled, cleaned, checked, oiled and reassembled.

Fitted with a good length 11/2 inch cutter marked 'STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO'.

Plenty of the original black finish remains.

Complete with both cutter screws, fence arm, fence, depth stop and spur.

Some surface knocks and scratches.

The previous owner has marked the body and fence with the initial 'N'.

All parts move freely and tighten securely.

83/8 inch sole.
