Antique American STANLEY No.5 Jack Plane - Type 6A *SOLD*
An early American STANLEY No.5 jack plane.
Believed to be a type 6A circa 1891 - 1892.
Dismantled, cleaned, checked, oiled and reassembled.
Fitted with a 2 inch STANLEY blade iron marked 'STANLEY PAT.AP'L.19.92.', 15/16 inches remains below the slot.
The lateral lever has three patents dates.
Brass depth adjusting nut marked 'BAILEY'S PATENT AUG.31.1853, AUG.6.1867'.
Nib casting mark behind on the base of the frog and the back of the lever cap.
Good rosewood handles, old repair to the rear handle - please see close-up images.
Solid brass nuts.
Plenty of the original black finish remains.
A previous owner has stamped 'H.P' in two places on the left cheek.
A few surface scratches, pitting and staining spots.
All parts move freely and tighten securely.
