Antique Wooden Try Plane by BROWN - 22 inch *SOLD*
A very good early 22 inch beechwood try or trying plane by Henry BROWN of Birmingham.
Clear embossed mark 'H BROWN' to the toe.
Believed to date from the late 18th century to early 19th century period with Henry BROWN being listed as a planemaker between 1797 and 1843 with a short lived partnership with Thomas BARNARD trading as BROWN & BARNARD from 1800 until 1808.
The handle is slightly offset to the right side of the stock.
Fitted with a full length length 21/2 inch F STONES blade iron and HILDICK cap iron.
Flat top wedge with chamfered corners, one old, treated and wax filled, worm exit hole.

No previous owner's stamps.
33/16 inches wide 22" overall length.
