A scarce early 19th century ADDIS curved vee carving gouge.

Marked 'ADDIS SNR' to the underside of the blade, believed to be the mark of Joseph James ADDIS, a son of Samuel ADDIS born in 1792.

Plenty of manufacturing file marks, please see images.

No sweep number however this gouge is a good match to a London pattern No.40 sweep.

3/8 inch or 10mm wide at the cutting edge.

Good octagonal beech wood handle.

No previous owner's stamps.
