A scarce early ADDIS 3/8 inch or 10mm vee carving tool.

Marked 'ADDIS SNR' to the underside of the blade, believed to be the mark of Joseph James ADDIS, a son of Samuel ADDIS born in 1792.

No sweep number however this gouge is a good match to a 45 degree London pattern No.39 sweep.

Good hardwood handle with brass ferrule.
