An early English STANLEY No.5 1/2 jack plane.
Believed to be a pre WW2 1930s production example from when STANLEY's Sheffield produced planes had rosewood handles.
Dismantled, cleaned, checked, oiled and reassembled.
Fitted with a good length 23/8 inch English STANLEY flat top blade iron and matching cap iron, some surface pitting and staining spots, 15/8 inches remain below the slot.
Minor bubbling to the plating on the lever cap, please see close-up image.
Retains the majority of its original black finish throughout.
This plane came to us with both rosewood knob and handle however the rear handle has a number of old repairs, one of which has failed. We have fitted a replacement beech handle and will include the original rosewood handle parts with the plane, please see close-up images.
Some surface knocks, scratches, pitting and staining spots, please see images.
All parts move freely and tighten securely.
15 inches overall length.
