A scarce early 19th century ADDIS carving gouge.

Marked 'S ADDIS JR' to the underside of the blade, possibly the mark of Samuel ADDIS, a son of Samuel ADDIS and uncle of Samuel Joseph (SJ) ADDIS.

Plenty of manufacturing file marks, please see images.

No sweep number however this gouge is a good match to a London pattern No.6 sweep.

5/16 inch or 8mm wide at the cutting edge.

Good octagonal beech wood handle.

Previous owner's initials 'H.I'.
