A scarce vintage saddlers' plough or plow gauge by GEORGE BARNSLEY of Sheffield.

Marked 'GEORGE BARNSLEY WARRANTED' with the A Boot trade mark on the knife blade.

Also marked '12 C' and 'D' on one side with 'RFA' and a faint previous owners name on the opposite side.

The graduated bar is divided into eighths up to 5 inches.

Stamped '21' on the inside of the foot and also underneath the brass roller.

The knife has a good hardwood handle with brass ferrule.
