A scarce, slightly over 1/4 inch or 7mm, No.5 fishtail carving gouge by HERRING BROTHERS of London.

Marked 'PRIZE MEDALS HERRING BROS LONDON' to one side of the blade with '5' stamped on the other side.

Good hardwood handle with brass ferrule.

No previous owner's stamps but there are three notches on the handle.
