An interesting complex quirk ogee and astragal profile moulding plane.

Embossed mark 'E. G. WELLS' to the toe in the usual place and stamped '7/8' on the heel.

Possibly related to the WELLS plane makers of York, see Goodman's BPM4 for details.

Good length blade iron and original wedge, a few surface staining spots, please see images.

This plane has a lignum vitae wear strip which may indicate that it was produced in or around Birmingham.

The shoulder has a full length fillet or step, the outer corner is the same height as the fillet and has been rounded over.

There are no gouge cuts where the chamfers meet the shoulder however there are near full width cuts to the toe and heel of the shoulder.

Stamped 'V 1' to the left side of the stock and 'W M' to the toe.

Some minor surface knocks and scratches plus two old (treated and wax filled) worm exit holes, please see images.

97/16 inches (240mm) overall length.
