A scarce and tidy infill smoothing plane by JOHN MOSELEY of London.

Believed to date from the second half on the 19th century.

Marked 'J MOSELEY & SON 54 BROAD STREET BLOOMSBURY' on the cap.

Also marked 'V111' to the back of the cap and stamped 'G' to the slot in the blade bed.

Fitted with a 2¹/₄ inch MARPLES parallel blade iron with a SORBY cap iron, Some pitting and staining spots.  1⁷/₁₆ inches remain blow the slot.

Good rosewood infill, signs of an old repair to the front 'bun' and the head of the strike button is missing, please see close-up images.

Some surface knocks and scratches.

Previous owner's stamps 'C.VAKEM' ? to the top of both infill sections.
