A good 1/8 inch or 3mm straight carving gouge by JOSEPH HERRING & SONS of Sheffield.

Marked 'JOSEPH HERRING & SONS' to one side of the blade and 'SHEFFIELD' to the other.

Not marked with a sweep number however this gouge is a good match to a London pattern No.8 sweep.

Good octagonal hardwood handle, previous owner's stamp 'F.H.HOBBY'.
