2 DIXON Saddlers Creasing Tools - Purse Creases
An uncommon pair of saddlers' purse creases by Joseph DIXON.
One single and one double crease, the single crease has a 15/16 inch edge with the double being 13/16 inches.
RA Salaman's excellent Dictionary of Leather-Working Tools:
"These tools were designed for use on purses, wallets and note-cases. The term 'purse' was applied to all these goods which were often made by saddlers as a by-product to their main business".
Both are marked 'JOSEPH DIXON'.
Good rosewood handles with brass ferrules.
