Vintage WILKINSON Tailors Shears
A good pair of antique tailors' shears by Thomas WILKINSON of Sheffield.
Marked 'T.WILKINSON & SON SHEFFIELD' on the brass joint.
Thomas WILKINSON invented and patented the ‘sidebent’ scissor with cranked handles to tilt upwards, allowing for smoother cutting of cloth as the lower blade could run flat along the fabric.
Marked 'WILKINSON'S LINED BLADES' on one blade.
Stamped '4H' on the inside of one blade near the joint.
Plenty of the black finish remains on the handles.
These shears do cut (please see last image) but may require some sharpening or setting up if intended for regular use.
6 inch blade edges.
13 inches overall length.
