A scarce and very good MARPLES 2501 best black punch saw set.

Believed to be from the 1920s/30s however these were offered by MARPLES as the No.743 in the late 1800s.

Marked 'W MARPLES & SONS CAST STEEL' side of the hammer.

Steel rest and removeable anvil.

Stamped '7' on the underside of the anvil, the anvil slot and both cam shaped stops.

Much of the original black finish remains.

Good strong hammer return spring.

All parts move freely and tighten securely.

Previous owner's marks 'W.MORBEY'.

A fine example.
