A very good 7/16 inch or 11mm carving spoon gouge by MARPLES of Sheffield.
Part marked 'MARPLES & SONS SHEFFIELD ENGLAND' on the blade.
There is an unclear mark where a sweep number would normally be however this gouge is a good match to a London pattern 28 sweep.
Good dark hardwood handle with brass ferrule.
No previous owner's stamps.
85/8 inches (220mm) overall length.
