MARPLES Wooden Round Soled Jack Plane with Military Marks

An unusual round bottom wooden bench plane by MARPLES of Sheffield.
This style of rounded sole is uncommon and possibly a special order from the British military during WW2.
Marked 'MARPLES SHEFFIELD ENGLAND' with the BB trade mark on the toe and stamped '21/4 IN' on the heel.
Also stamped with the military Broad Arrow and '1941' on the toe and with the Broad Arrow over 'W' over '45' on the heel, please see close-up images.
Fitted with a good length curved edge MARPLES 21/4" blade iron with matching cap iron, a little under 17/8 inches remain below the slot.
No previous owner's marks.
