Early RECORD 05 1/2 Jack Plane *SOLD*

A tidy early example of the RECORD 05 1/2 jack plane.

Believed to be from circa 1937-38.

Fitted with a straight topped 23/8 inch RECORD best crucible cast tungsten steel blade iron and cap iron, 111/16 inches remain below the slot.

Dismantled, cleaned, checked, oiled and reassembled.

This early example has the first pattern lateral lever with no markings and the revolving disc.  First pattern frog, screws, Y lever and brass adjusting nut.

Plenty of the original blue finish remains.

The nickel plated lever cap retains the majority of its red background finish to the lettered area, some minor bubbling and a couple of loss patches to the plating, please see images.

Very good rosewood handles with patches of the original lacquer finish.

Previous owner's stamps 'C.HALL' to either side of the rear handle.

Usual signs of use with some surface scratches, pitting and staining but a tidy example of an early RECORD plane.

All parts move freely and tighten securely.
