A scarce 3/8 inch American STANLEY No.39 dado plane.

Part of a series of 8 planes in differing sizes from 1/4 to 1 inch manufactured by STANLEY.

Complete with all the correct parts including the spurs, spur screws, skewed cutter (unmarked), lever screw and depth stop.

The lever screw is marked 'MADE IN USA' with the STANLEY Sweetheart trade mark.

The backs of the depth stop and lever are cast with a '3'.

Please note that the removal of the depth stop can be a bit of a conundrum but is achievable with the right sequence, no force required.

The majority of the original black finish remains.

Good nickel plating with only a few minor loss spots.

The right side does show some machining marks and scratches around the side escapement, please see close-up images.

All parts move freely and tighten securely.

8 inch sole length, 9¹/₂" overall.
