An early 20th century Bedrock No.604 1/2 smoothing plane by STANLEY USA.

Dismantled, cleaned, checked, oiled and reassembled.

Believed to be a type 6, circa 1912-1921.

Marked 'No 604 1/2' behind the front knob with 'BED ROCK' at the toe.

'PAT'D APR 2 95 APR 19 10' is cast into the bed behind the frog.

Fitted with a 2³/₈ inch English STANLEY lat top blade iron, matching cap iron, a little over ³/₄ inch remains below the slot.

There is a tiny chip to the lower left corner of the lever cap, please see close-up image.

The majority of the black finish remains.

Very good rosewood handles, patches of the original trade label remain to the left side of the rear handle.  

All parts move freely and tighten securely.
