A very good American STANLEY No.2 small smoothing plane.

Dismantled, cleaned, checked, oiled and reassembled.

Fitted with a good length 1⁵/₈ inch blade iron marked 'STANLEY MADE IN USA' with the Sweetheart trade mark, 1³/₁₆ inches remain below the slot.  The blade is also stamped '439' to the back, believed to indicate that it was manufactured in the four quarter of 1939.

Marked 'STANLEY' on the lateral lever.

Lovely rosewood low knob and rear handle.  There is a faint previous owner's stamp 'VARLEY' (?) to the top of the front knob.

All parts move freely and tighten securely.

7¹/₈ inch sole, 7¹/₂ inches overall length.
