ULMIA Smoothing Plane
A tidy wooden smoothing plane by ULMIA of Germany.
This style of plane is also sometimes referred to as a Bismarck or Bismark plane.
Red beech body with hornbeam sole.
Marked '48mm' at the heel below the strike button.
Fitted with a good length 48mm (17/8") double plane iron blade, 55mm remains below the slot.
The ULMIA trade mark disc usually found behind the front horn handle has been replaced by a previous owner with a German pfennig coin dated 1983.
