A very good 3/16 inch centre reed moulding plane by VARVILL of York.

Marked 'VARVILL & SONS LTD EBOR WORKS YORK' with the Bishops Mitre trade mark on the toe and stamped 'REED 3/16' on the heel.

Also stamped 'GP PRESTON TOOL MERCHANT SHEFFIELD'.

There is a 'Y' mark just behind the wedge mortice, most likely the mark of the individual plane hand or maker.

The stock has two holes inch diameter holes to allow the use of a screw stem fence when required.  This fence was typically borrowed from a plough or fillister in the same tool kit.

Good length original SANDERSON BROTHERS blade iron (some surface pitting & staining spots) and original wedge.
