War Production American STANLEY 6 Fore Plane - Type 17 *SOLD*
A tidy American STANLEY No.6 fore plane.
This example is a type 17 WW2 plane made between 1942 - 1945.
The planes produced during this period have heavier castings with noticeably thicker side walls.
Fitted with a near full length 23/8 inch STANLEY blade iron stamped '244' on the back indicating that it was produced in the second quarter of 1944.
Dismantled, cleaned, checked, oiled and reassembled.
Retains almost all of its original black finish.
Very good hardwood handles with long screw type fittings rather than the usual rod and brass nut.
Hard rubber adjusting nut.
The back of the non-plated lever cap is marked 'PAT.NO.1918750'.
A few surface knocks, scratches, pitting and staining spots.
All parts move freely and tighten securely.
18 inches overall length.
