Add To Your WishlistWide JOHN GREEN Moulding Plane with Larger Mark *SOLD*

A very good, wide ogee profile moulding plane by JOHN GREEN of York.

Large embossed mark 'JOHN GREEN' to the toe with '10' stamped on the heel.  According to Peter Young's excellent book on JOHN GREEN, 18th Century York Planemaker - The Rise & Fall of an Empire, this larger mark with the 'JOHN' rather than the more usual 'IOHN' is seen on ploughs, bench, toothing and panel planes but not found on many moulding planes.

Fitted with a good length P LAW blade iron and original wedge, some minor surface spots, please see images.

Fitted with a slip, this plane also has three old fixing holes to the left side of the integral fence.

Wide flat chamfers.

Previous owner's stamps 'T.ROBONSON, 'THOMAS HILL' and 'HBT WOODHEAD'.

One old, treated and wax filled, worm exit hole plus a few minor surface knocks and scratches, please see images.

213/16 inches overall width, 91/2 inches long.

A nice example.
