A very tidy WODEN W4 smoothing plane.

WODEN began producing planes in the 1950s following their purchase of the WS Manufacturing Company and were eventually bought out by RECORD in the early 1960s.

Dismantled, cleaned, checked, oiled and reassembled.

Fitted with a good length flat top 2 inch WODEN cast steel blade iron (faintly marked - please see close-up image) and matching cap iron, a little under 1⁵/₈ inches remain below the slot.

The brass depth adjuster wheel is marked 'OFF CUT ON'.

Retains the majority of its original blue finish throughout.

Very good hardwood handles with the majority of the original lacquer finish and near complete part trade label to the top of the rear handle.

The previous owner has lightly etched 'A NICHOLS' to the left cheek, please see images.

All parts move freely and tighten securely.
