Add To Your WishlistNo 12 Hollow Moulding Plane - Overstamped W MARPLES

An interesting No.12 hollow moulding plane.

The original maker's mark has been overstamped 'W MARPLES', could this be the William MARPLES? - please see close-up image.

Although a little unclear the original embossed maker's mark appears to be 'R MASON', Robert MASON was a Birmingham planemaker circa 1843 - 1868.

Stamped '12' on the heel, there appears to be a '4' under the '2' that has been overstamped.

Good length blade iron (a few pitting and staining spots) and original wedge.  Both the wedge and iron are marked '11' and 'X1' respectively, please see close-up images.

Previous owner's stamp 'W.MAKIN'.

A few minor surface knocks, scratches and staining spots.

97/16 inches overall length.
