A very good and little used STANLEY No 4 1/2 smoothing plane.

Heavier and wider than the No.4 planes, this plane has particularly thick side cheeks.

Dismantled, cleaned, checked, oiled and reassembled.

Fitted with a near full length 2³/₈ inch STANLEY blade iron with matching cap iron, a little under 2 inches remain below the slot.

A few minor plating loss spots around the kidney shaped hole in the lever cap, please see close-up image. 

Very good hardwood handles with much of their original lacquer finish.

All parts move freely and tighten securely.
