STANLEY 101 1/2 Bull Nose Block Plane
A scarce little bull nose block plane from STANLEY USA.
The STANLEY No.101 1/2 bull nose block plane never appeared in any of the STANLEY catalogues but apparently was to be found in some English and American tool dealer catalogues.
Effectively a bull nose version of the popular 101 block plane, the 101 1/2 was only produced between 1881 and 1928.
Because of the rarity of these planes, some cut down versions of the STANLEY 101 do appear trying to pass themselves off as a 101 1/2.
Look for the finger rest and check the length. The genuine STANLEY 101 1/2 bull nose will be just under 3 1/2 inches long where a cut down 101 will be only 2 1/2 inches and missing the finger rest.
A rare little plane.
Enjoy the photos.
