Undertakers Pocket Brace
A rare undertakers pocket brace.
These rarely seen folding braces were designed to be kept in the undertaker's coat or jacket pocket until required to seal the coffin lid in place.
Similar to the more common 'penny' braces but small enough to fit in the palm of the hand when the top pad is folded to fit inside the frame.
8 inches overall length when open with a 4 1/2 inch sweep.
Simple thumb screw to lock the turnscrew bit in place.
A fine example of a brace that is very hard to find today.
Currently part of a private collection.
Enjoy the photos.
