A very good 1/4 inch or 7mm shallow carving gouge by MARPLES of Sheffield.

Marked 'W MARPLES & SONS CAST STEEL' with the Shamrock trade mark to the underside of the blade.

Not marked with a sweep number however this gouge is a good match to a London pattern No.4 sweep.

Very good ash wood handle with brass ferrule and 'CLARKE EXETER' mark.

Previous owner's stamps 'W S DIAMOND'.
