A scarce very wide handled moulding plane by HIELDS of Nottingham.

Possibly a cornice or crown moulding plane, these handled wide moulding planes were used to create the decorative cornices for furniture and room interior fittings.

Rope hole at the toe to allow a two-man push and pull action.

Clearly marked 'HIELDS NOTTINGHAM' on the toe.

Original blade iron and wedge.

Previous owner's stamp 'R.W.COTTON'.
