A very scarce PRESTON's patent adjustable 1396 lining or stringing router and probably the best example you will find.

Not only complete with six cutters and fence, this router has the optional removeable faceplate and additional fence.

The catalogue descriptions states:

"The use of the faceplate is to carry an adjustable fence for use in connection with the front flat-faced fence supplied with the 1386 router.  In use, the two fences are adjusted to the thickness of the material being worked, and this ensures a straight line being kept during the grooving operation. The faceplate can be removed when not required."

Marked 'PRESTON PATENT' with the EP trade mark on the top of the handle.

The six cutters are all marked with the PRESTON EP Patent trade mark.

Retains almost all of its original finish throughout.

All parts move freely and tighten securely.

93/4 inches overall.
