An interesting vintage Wotsit by HINDES of Birmingham and London.

Marked 'HINDES PROV PAT 21672/10' to the inside of one steel bar.

Established in the 1790s, HINDES were suppliers of hair curlers, wavers, brushes and other items for the 'toilet table'.

A quick online search brings up plenty of old HINDES advertisements from the late 1800s through to the mid 20th century.

This item has four rounded steel bars fitted into a hollow wooden handle with screw top.

The bars are 4¹/₄ inches long.

Although there are numerous images of other curlers and wavers by HINDES to be seen online we are unable to find any of this example.
