An early and rare example of the RECORD No 125 improved hand drill.

Only produced for a short period before WW2, all RECORD 125 hand drills are scarce however this is a first model with the shorter hollow steel handle, thought to have been produced in 1932 before the change to the longer handle.

The 125 has Bakelite knobs and removeable cap to the hollow handle to allow the storage of bits.

This hollow handle can be removed and re-positioned at 180 degrees to the gear wheel to allow use as a 'pistol grip' drill.

The handle locking screw is still in place and the handle thread clearly shows where this screw fits.

Marked 'RECORD MADE IN ENGLAND No125' on the gear lever with 'RECORD' on the gear wheel and 'RECORD MADE IN ENGLAND' also on the three jaw chuck.

The malleable iron frame retains patches of the original blue finish as does the red gear wheel.

Some patchy nickel plating loss, please see close-up images.

No missing teeth.

133/8 inches overall length including the jaws.

A very scarce and hard to find example.
