A scarce vintage SYKES Tools of Progress display stand.

Joe SYKES was the original salesman at JW Pickavant & Co Ltd during the 1920s and left to set up his own tool distribution business in 1931 using the SYKES brand name.

Following successful periods for both Pickavant and Sykes they merged in 1968 to form Sykes Pickavant Limited.  The new company began operations on 1st January 1969 and the company is still very active in today's automotive industry.

This beechwood block has 7 graduated size holes and bears a metal plaque which reads 'SYKES TOOLS OF PROGRESS BRITISH MADE FROM FINEST BRITISH MATERIALS'.
