A vintage 5/16 inch or 8mm MARPLES spoon bent carving gouge.

Marked 'W MARPLES & SONS' to the top of the blade, some surface spots.

There are some pitting spots to the inside/bowl of the spoon which may cause irregularities in the cut however this gouge will perform well for stock removal, please see close-up image.

Not marked with a sweep number however this gouge is a good match to a London Pattern No.28 sweep.

Good beech wood handle with brass ferrule.

No previous owner's stamps.
