A very tidy improved handled dovetail infill smoothing plane by MATHIESON of Glasgow.

Marked 'A.MATHIESON & SON GLASGOW' with the Crescent & Star trade mark on front infill.

Also stamped 'STEEL' on the toe.

Fitted with a good length 2¹/₄ inch MATHIESON parallel blade iron and MATHIESON GLASGOW cap iron.

Also stamped 'MATHIESON GLASGOW' with the Crescent & Star trade mark on the gunmetal lever cap.

Very good rosewood infill with much of the original lacquer finish.

A few minor surface knocks and scratches.

Previous owner's stamps 'J FOSTER'.

7³/₈ inch sole length.
