Rare American STANLEY 94 Rabbet Plane *SOLD*
A rare early 20th century American STANLEY No.94 cabinet makers' rabbet plane.
The No.94 is the largest of the STANLEY cabinet makers' rabbet planes and this one is fitted with a near full length 11/4 inch cutter marked 'PAT'S 3.13.1900'.
This plane can be used as a shoulder plane or a chisel plane by removing the top section.
The front section is a hollow casting to reduce weight and later examples have the round disc used to cover the sand core hole however the early planes, as with this one, have a two part front section with the separate sole piece pinned in place - please see close-up images
Almost impossible to find with it full nickel plated finish intact although this one retains the vast majority and is by far the best example we have seen in recent years.
All parts, including the mouth set screw, move freely and tighten securely.
71/2 inches overall length.
A nice example of a rare plane.
