A rare cock bead fillister plane.

The majority of known cock bead fillisters were manufactured in the 18th or early 19th centuries.

Designed to cut the rebate on drawer fronts prior to the fitting of a cock bead.

The maker's mark on this example is overstamped and difficult to confirm.  Possibly 'P' or 'R' initial followed by 'D'....?

Stamped '3/16' on the heel.

HILDICK blade and nicker irons, original wedges.

Wooden depth stop.

Previous owner's stamps include 'J.BURCH', 'I.THOMSON' and 'W.BALLARD'.

There are a number of puncture marks on the left side of the stock.  Although these initially look like worm exit holes closer inspection reveals they are square and appear to have been made by an awl or similar, please view the close-up photograph.

97/16 inches overall length.

An interesting and unusual plane.
