A very tidy NORRIS 50G adjustable smoothing plane.

Gunmetal body, steel sole and English walnut infill.

Marked 'NORRIS 50G LONDON' on the gunmetal lever cap.

The adjuster is marked 'NORRIS LONDON PATENT No11526-13-22'.

Also marked 'REGD No 637728' on the toe.

Fitted with a 2¹/₄ inch original early NORRIS parallel blade iron and matching NORRIS LONDON cap iron.

The back of the iron and infill by the adjuster channel are both stamped '5'.  The iron also has an 'H' within a circle at the bottom of the slot.

The back of the front infill and the back of the lever cap are both marked '30'.

The adjuster is smooth and works well.

Nice tight mouth.

Good walnut infill, a few minor knocks and scratches.

Retains much of the original red/brown finish to the inside of the casting.

Some minor scratches, pitting and staining spots.

Previous owner's marks 'A.WILSON' on either side of the rear infill.

4lb 7oz (2kg) total weight.

7¹/₄ inch sole.

A good and honest example.
